I saw this sign as I passed the window of a local gym today and was immediately drawn to it. I had to stop myself from running inside and demanding to meet the person that was busier than me. Instead I stood outside wondering if this person ever wakes up at 5 am to make breakfast, lunch, and pet meals. I wondered if he had ever prepared his child a ziploc of dog food while making the dog a gourmet turkey sandwich. I wondered if he had recited quadratic equations out loud in the school drop off lane while replacing dog kibble with a bag of smart food popcorn. I wondered if he had ever opened his computer bag to grab his power cord only to find out that what he was actually holding in his hand was a pair of black volleyball socks. I wondered if he was ever ready for lunch at 8 am. That's when I decided not to go into the gym to meet this physically fit individual after all. He deserved an award or a prize of some kind, and the only thing that I had to offer him was a snack sized bag of dog food and a pair of dirty socks.

I spent a gorgeous fall day photographing Dierks Bentley and his wife and baby. I couldn't have asked for a better recipe for success...wonderful people, a beautiful piece of land in the country, and a pizza eaten out of the box from the bed of a pick up truck. The Bentleys just announced to the world that they are expecting their second child by sending one of my pictures toPeople.com. I can't wait to watch their family grow--Congratulations Bentleys!

Hours and hours of singing "Danny's Song" in my bedroom must have paid off, because I recently got to photograph one of my very favorite singers, Kenny Loggins. I am the lucky one. Lucky to meet people I have admired from afar, and find out that up close they are just as nice as I had imagined.

From the moment I walked into Ava's party, love was overflowing throughout the room. It was Ava's first birthday, and I was there to cover it for Country Weekly because this little doll belongs to one lucky mommy and daddy... Amy and James Otto. I couldn't turn my head without my eyes being met by little bits of love disguised in hot pink and blue. Amy and her family had outdone themselves with the amazing decor and thoughtful entertainment perfectly fit for a one year old. But there was someone in the room whose eyes were bigger than mine, and that was little Ava. I have never seen a one year old baby who was more appreciative of their first birthday party. Ava blew me away with how she went around the room and took in each detail that had been lovingly prepared for her. She danced to the music, played the games, hug the presents, and kissed the guests. These two amazing parents had spent a year creating a miniature version of themselves. At the end of the party I was hoping that the Ottos would adopt me too, but no such luck. The party was over and I had to go. I am just so glad this little monkey gets to stay with them forever...

I went out to Arrington Vineyards the other night for a magazine cover shoot, and these gorgeous colors emerged from the ground before my eyes. It was as if the sound of air and fire from the balloons was the Tennessee hills letting their breath be known. With colors only to be found in paintings, fruit to runneth your cup over, and music that made it impossible to stand still, I do believe that at that very moment, the hills really were alive.
